On-The-Job Training Program
The OJT Training Program provides hands-on experience designed to enable a WIA (Workforce Investment Act) eligible participant to learn specific occupational skills in a workplace setting while earning wages. OJT prepares the trainee for moving into subsidized employment. Training incentives are offered to assist the employer. The Turning Point Workforce Development Board provides oversight for this Initiative; however it is provided in partnership with the Workforce Development Training Center.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE AS A PARTICIPANT?
OJT Training Initiative eligibility requires each participant to be:
- A dislocated worker
- Prolonged unemployed (19 weeks or more)
- Possess a Career Readiness Certificate
COMPANY ELIGIBILITY
- Employer must not be in violation of local, state or federal labor laws
- Operate a business in NC. If headquarters is out of state, provide sufficient records
- Employer not experiencing abnormal labor conditions. (strikes, lock-outs)
- Employer cannot have high turnover in past 12 months
BASIC COMPONENTS
- An analysis will be completed by the employer and the Workforce Development Training Center
- All participants must obtain a Career Readiness Certificate prior to being enrolled
- Companies will be reimbursed monthly
- An employer may offer employment to the participant after the training period is complete
- Any agreements will be made between the employer and the Workforce Development Training Center office, with oversight from the Workforce Board Administrative office.
- The participant’s supervisor is required to complete an interim and final evaluation
EMPLOYER REIMBURSEMENT SCALE
- 50 or less employees, up to 90%
- 51-250 employees, up to 75%
- Over 250 employees, up to 50%
